Hi, SCV = Shenandoah County, VA This info is from the book "From The Rhine To The Shenandoah" Vol. III, by Daniel W. Bly. You should read this book as there is lots (and mean lots) of information about the Coffelts. Here is the connection: 1. George Kauffeldt 1620 - after 1660 Germany (maybe) 2. Elias Kauffeldt 1655/56 - 1728 Germany 3. Johann Christopher Kauffelt abt 1692 Germany - abt 1754 SCV (some say York Co. PA ???) 4. Peter Kauffeldt abt 1732 - 1767, married Catherine Haller. 1. George Kauffeldt 2. Elias Kauffeldt (same as above) 3. Johnn Nicholas Kauffeldt abt 1690 Germany - after 1754 York County, PA 4. George Jacob Kauffelt 1724 Germany - 1787 SCV 5. George Kauffeldt 1776 SCV- 1847 SCV married 1803 Ann Elizabeth Druck. If you want a list of all of the children just let me know. Carole > > Does your book say how George is related to Peter Coffelt who m. Catherine > Haller (my ancestor)? Are there guardian bonds for the timeperiod of 1840-1860? I'm looking for the guardian bond appointing a Jacob Anderson the guardian to two minor children of Wm. Gill - namely Geo. Wm Gill and his sister Emily Susan Gill. Jacob Anderson was their uncle a brother to their mother Catherine Anderson Gill. I looked to the LDS and didn't see anything listed specifically as Guardian Bonds. Help - Karen

If you are fortunate enough to have a copy of Mr. Borden's Tombstone Inscriptions for Woodstock & Ft. Valley Vicinities, you may want to update the directions to include the road names that they didn't have when Mr. Borden printed his books. The Route numbers didn't change. I visited the Ruby Cemetery and following are today's directions: The RUBY cemetery is located in the general vicinity of Edinburg, Shenandoah County, VA. Take Rt. 675 (Stoney Creek Rd) Northwest out of Edinburg, and turn LEFT onto Rt. 682 (Wakemans Grove Rd) and proceed to Rt. 691 (Swover Creek Rd) and turn LEFT onto Swover Creek Rd. and proceed .2 mile to the cemetery on the LEFT side of Swover Creek Rd. I also took a picture of the cemetery and will forward it to Don Silvius in the very near future to post on the vashen web page. Jan Hood
I was in touch with his dau she still had copies of some of his books been a number of years now ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
I personally had conversations with Mr. Borden. In fact, at that time, his books were no longer in print. I begged him for copies and he said that he had none. However, he sent me his original hand typed manuscripts and a letter of permission to have them copied; as I did and then sent them back to him. Quite a trust in a person that he never met. At the time, he said that his family wasn't interested in his work, so he thought that they would never be up-dated or re-printed. He told me how they set up the cemeteries to read them and if un-readable, the site was listed as so. He skipped nothing. But everyone is human. I still have the letters of permission that he sent to me. I spoke with him quite a few times. He seemed like a very nice person. Diane- In cleaning out some old e-mails I ran across this one you posted on the Vashenan list. If you are still looking for information on the Gollidays and all variant spellings, you might try contacting Walter D. "Thank You" for all of your hard work to make Shenandoah research easier. Many people, like my 3 great grandparents were buried near Columbia Furnace (1829/1849) in "the family cemetery on our farm" per their will. I think many of these small cemeteries are lost forever.
