    2. Marcia, Since the 1810 census for Ohio except one county (Washington) was lost, there is no telling where they were at that point in time but we are guessing Ohio since they don't seem to be in Virginia. By the 1820 census and 1830 census they are definitely in Ohio in the follow counties. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------- 1820 Federal Census: Ohio Pleasant Township, Greenfield, Fairfield County Geo. Tarflinger Household 1 male 10 and under 16 1 male 16 and under 26 1 male 26 and under 45 3 females under 10 1 female 10 and under 16 1 female 26 and under 45 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------- 1830 Federal Census: Ohio Monroe Township, Pickaway County George Taflinger Household 1 male 5 and under 10 1 male 20 and under 30 1 male 30 and under 40 1 male 40 and under 50 1 female under 5 years 3 females 15 and under 20 1 female 20 and under 30 1 female 40 and under 50 Hope this is of some help. 2. Marcia, I highly recommend consulting the personal property tax lists! They are available from The Library of Virginia on Interlibrary Loan. All white males 21 and older are usually named no matter with whom they were living. Good luck. Phyllis Vannoy Spiker I am looking for Elizabeth Parrett b. abt 1786 in Rockingham Co VA. near Brocks Gap Her father was Samuel Parrett and most of the family went to Ohio about 1815. I have lost Elizabeth. She married George Tafflinger (Tofflemyer, Faflinger) 2 Sept 1807 in Rockingham Co VA. I don't find them in Perry or Fairfield Co Oh and wonder if they stayed in VA with her brother Phillip Parrett and other Tafflingers in area. In 1810 Census there is a John and Jacob Tafflinger living near Henry & Sam Parrett I did not see a George Tafflinger on the page. I know I am giving info on Rockingham Co but they were close to Shenandoah Co and many of the Parrett's lived at Toms Brook. Any clues would be a great help. I think I told you the oldest record I found for one of the northern counties of VA I was looking at years ago had a land record for a Slaughter. Here's another posted online, 2 years before the Revolution, that mentions a Frances Slaughter: Shenandoah County Virginia Deed Book B Pages 8-9 20 April 1774 This Indenture made the Twentieth Day of April in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Seventy four BETWEEN Abraham Brubaker of the County of Dunmore and Barbara his wife of the one part and Bura Harrison, Joseph Pugh, Francis Slaughter, Henry Nelson, Abraham Keller, John Tipton, Jonathan Langdon, Abraham Bowman, George Ruddle, and Jacob Holeman. 3. While members of the mailing list are discussing Dellingers, I thought I'd ask if anyone knew about the George Dellinger Family, which included Dorothey Dellinger. Amy Gilreath once told me that this George was not in her family so she had not studied them. Dorothy Dellinger m. Henry Reader in Shenandoah County, VA in 1798 What I am attempting to do is thread together the family and friends associated with the Corders who married in Shenandoah. Henry Reader was the bondsman for a Corder-Criswell marriage and a Wrae-Criswell marriage. Yet, I have found no Criswells in Shenandoah County records. The marriages took place 1801-1802 and a Presbyterian Minister out from Front Royal was their minister. I did find a few (very few) Criswell records in Frederick County, VA. I am looking for a cross-family member who was the benefactor of Reuben Corder, ward of Martin and Elizabeth (Corder) Pence who m. in Shenandoah County, VA in 1812. The guardianship was recorded in Champaign County, OH in 1830. I keep adding cross-family names to my list of plausible benefactors as I learn more about the Corders of Shenandoah County and the Corders of Champaign County, OH and their associated families. Rosina Dellinger, d/o Christian Dellinger and Mary Magdalene who owned land on Stoney Creek. Could this be the father of the George who m. Barbara Helsley in 1795? My ancestor John Surber m. Margaret Lonas in 1793. She was reportedly the d/o Leonard and Catherine Lonas. The Surbers also lived along Stoney Creek. Could Margaret be say a sister or cousin to this George? Are there Lonas researchers who know about Leonard and Catherine Lonas and how they might be related to these families? Thanks, Nancy Corder Halvorson
