Hi, I did not see a Ludwig will but did see: 1. Joseph Ludwig was a witness for a codical to the will of Jacob Emswiller in 1832. 2. Joseph Ludwick was a witness to the will of Henry Lambert in 1843 3. In the will of Joseph Moore, 1820 he mentions some land that he bought from Jacob Ludwig. Vashenan Listmates, Here is another correction and Revised List of the children of Jacob Rinker Jr. Hopefully, this time it is correct! Vashenan Listmates, Thanks to one of my benefactors in Shenandoah County, who sent me the following information for which I am very grateful. As you can see the tombstone for Jacob G. Rinker states "son of Jacob and Mary Rinker" so that pretty much answers my question as to which was his mother. It will forever remain a mystery as to why the clerk worded the Chancery Record the way he did. Perhaps the Clerk when recording it, couldn't read the writing clearly and put "of "but meant "over the age of fourteen" It is amazing how one word can change the meaning of a document so quickly. But now it is all clear! We were surprised to see that there was a daughter Elizabeth Rinker born to Jacob Rinker Jr. and Mary Fravel and she is not named in the Will of Jacob Rinker Jr., so she must not have lived passed infancy. ----------------------------- Revised List of the Children of Jacob Rinker Jr. CHILDREN OF JACOB RINKER JR. & MARY FRAVEL 1. Good Morning Vashenan Listmates, We have a very loose end in the Bushong family. Since this family intermarried so much with the Valley families, we are putting this on the List in hopes that someone else may have a loose end in their lineage, that may connect to these Bushongs. Notice that one of the documents in the settlement of Jacob Bushong's estate below shows one of the appraisers was Christian Hottel. Jacob and Juliana had 11 children living at the time of his death. -------------------------------- Jacob Bushong married Juliana Weigel. They came from Manchester, York County, Pennsylvania. Jacob died leaving a Will in Augusta County in 1812 and he and wife are buried at Churchville. So many of the Shenandoah families went to this area. He did not name his children individually in his Will but he had one son named Jacob and a ton of daughters. His brothers lived in Shenandoah County and he owned land in Shenandoah, Rockingham, Augusta and Pendleton Counties at various times. He also served in the Revolutionary War. This Jacob Bushong is not to be confused with Jacob Bushong, son of Peter Bushong and Barbara Wenger, and who married Catharine Cline. (Boschong Archives April 2007). To see all of our posts on the family of Jacob Bushong and Juliana Weigel go to the BOSCHONG Archives at Rootsweb for January 2005, January 2007, May 2007, January 2010, February 2010, and March 2010 among others. ------------------------------- Augusta County Virginia Will Book 11 Pages 124-126 3 April 1812 Agreeable to an order of Court we the appraisers have made an Inventory of the Property of Jacob Bushong, deceased, this third day of April one thousand eight hundred and twelve and is as follows viz. Gloria, Thanks, I knew you could straighten me out. Tomorrow I will start fresh! Chocy
Good Evening Chocy, To answer your question., I believe that you are looking at a totally different Jacob Rinker. See below. Shenandoah County Chancery Suit 1844-007 Peter Miller VS Thomas Jefferson Rinker To the County Court of Shenandoah County in Chancery sitting: Respectively complaining sheweth unto the court, your orator, Peter Miller, of said county, that in the division of the lands of Jacob Rinker Jr. deceased, there was assigned jointly to Catharine and Thomas J. Rinker, two of the children of said Jacob Rinker, a tract of land lying in said county on Black Oak Ridge containing Eighty six acres and three quarters. That the said Catharine Rinker afterwards died under age, unmarried and without issue, leaving her interest in said land to descend to the said Thomas J. Rinker a brother of the whole blood, to Samuel Rinker, Henry St. John Rinker and Jacob George Rinker brothers of the half blood and to Mary the wife of Daniel Fravel, a sister of the half blood, ............. It goes on, but there's no point in putting it on the List. You can read it in it's entirety on the Library of Virginia website. >From this Chancery suit, we are now wondering exactly which is correct. That Jacob George Rinker is a son of Mary Fravel or that he is a son of Elizabeth Haas. We just can't figure out how two boys could be fourteen years of age as referred to in the Chancery Suit and not be twins, unless one was born in the very beginning of the year and the other born at the end of the same year. But then again, that doesn't work for the death of Jacob Rinker Jr. in 1831. So, since the court chancery records are contradictory in nature from case to case, and census records are not there for Jacob George Rinker to compare with brother Thomas J. Rinker, therefore, put Jacob George Rinker with which ever mother you prefer. My brain is fried for the night! Gloria B.
Hi Gloria, Its the end of the day for me, so probably not a good time to start on your post; but before I forget this is what I had on Catherine RINKER, the one I have listed as the daughter of Jacob RINKER and his wife, Mary FRAVEL. "Shenandoah County, Virginia Marriage Bonds, 1772-1853" Godfrey MILLER to Catherine RINKER; 6 Jun 1829; Shenandaoh County, Virginia; daughter of Jacob RINKER. Spelled: Godfrey MILLER, Jr.. Bond Book If the Catherine RINKER that married Godfrey MILLER in 1829 was 18-20 years old at the time of her marriage she would have been born between 1809-1811. If I have the right Jacob RINKER, than this Catherine would be the daughter of Mary FRAVEL. They were married 20 Mar 1808. I, also have a Rebecca RINKER that married Jonathan MILLER on 1 Nov 1824; Shenandoah County, Virginia. Bondsman: Jacob RINKER. Bond Book If I have the right Jacob RINKER, than Rebecca RINKER would be the sister to Catherine and Jonathan MILLER would be a brother to Godfrey MILLER, Jr., the sons of Godfrey MILLER, Sr. and his wife, Barbara Andrick FUNKHOUSER, the daughter of Isaac FUNKHOUSER, who had his will translated from German to English by a Jacob RINKER. I haven't gone over all the post, so you may already have explained it all. Chocy
Vashenan Subscribers, I should know better then to post when I am so tired, which I am at this point. I told you in the first couple of posts that we had determined based on the Chancery Suit of 1840 that Thomas J. Rinker and Jacob George Rinker were twins. Then when we posted, we messed up and put Jacob George as son of Mary Fravel. Please correct this as he was the twin brother of Thomas J. Rinker and the son of Jacob Rinker Jr and second wife Elizabeth Hass. CHILDREN OF JACOB RINKER JR. & MARY FRAVEL 1. Samuel Rinker, born 1814 2. Mary Rinker, Born 1816 3. Rinker, born circa 1826 twin 7. Jacob George Rinker, born circa 1826, twin Thanks, Gloria Bushong

Rinker The Shenandoah Herald Woodstock, Virginia Friday, 28 December 1900 Page 3, Column 5 OBITUARY MRS. THOMAS J. RINKER Mrs. Thomas J. Rinker died at her residence near St. Luke last Monday aged 73 years. She leaves four children to mourn the loss of an affectionate mother. Messrs. Samuel, Philip, Robert and Henry Brubeck. She was buried at St. Luke on last Tuesday. NOTE: In the obit Thomas J. Rinker was dead as he is not mentioned as surviving and although it states that she was buried at St. Luke that was not the case. Her service might have been held at St. Luke, but Elizabeth Fisher Brobeck Rinker was buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery, just north of New Market, VA. NOTE: From the obit it is hard to know whether the writer was referring to St. Luke, the place, or St. Lukes Church (Brethren) and for those of you who are curious as to where St. Luke and St. Lukes Church are located: St Luke (Locale) is "located 0.1 miles south of Narrow Passage Creek, 2.5 miles southwest of Alonzaville and three miles northeast of Columbia Furnace." "St. Lukes Church is located at the east foot of Little North Mountain 0.5 miles northwest of Holmans Creek and two miles west of Moores Store. Records indicate, conflictingly, that this Brethren church was erected sometime between 1835 and 1840, and that it was dedicated in 1876. This church has also been called the "County Line Church" due to its proximity to the Rockingham-Shenandoah County border 150 feet away."
