Clarene Julia Dougherty Addington, 92, Route 2, departed this life Wednesday aftgernoon (Oct. 11, 2000) at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN. A native of Scott County, Mrs. Addington was a foster care parent for Scott County Scoial Servicdes and the oldest member of Addington Frame Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Addington; parents, Carson and Verdia M. Addington Dougherty; sisters, Alice Hicks and Dana Browder; foster daughter, Barbara Lynn Smith; and foster son, Paul Dixon. Mrs. Addington was a remarkable woman. Several years ago, the count of foster children to go through her home were well over 100; many of whom she reared from small children to adulthood.
