KINGSPORT Charlie Ray Tipton, 60, Gravely Road, passed away Tuesday (Oct. 3, 2000) at Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Scott County on Dec. 16, 1939, he was the son of the late James Harvey and Lillie Estell Bishop Tipton. He was a retired engineer with Rail Link Railroad. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lillie Mae Thacker; two brothers, Claude Lee Tipton and Ivan Eugene Tipton. Surviving are his wife, Ginger Lea Mellons Tipton, of the home; daughters, Kwan Tipton, Kingsport and Reva Tipton, Clinchport, Va.; sons, Bobby Ray Tipton and wife Linda, Richmond Hill, Ga., Brian Ray Tipton and Brett Ryan Tipton, all of the home; grandchildren, Chris Tipton, Matt Tipton, Austin Tipton and Dustin Robinson; sisters, Phyllis Osborne, Dungannon, Va., Mrs. Wayne (Judy) Pendleton, Mrs. Jimmy (Joyce) Dockery and Pam France, all of Gate City, Va.; brothers, James Tipton and wife Mary, Rye Cove, Va., and Ralph Tipton, Sullivan Gardens; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va., and other times at the residence. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kenny Adams and Evangelist Rick Bowser offiiating. Music will be provided by Donna Light, Susie Kerney and Denise Whooten. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Rollins Cemetery (Rye Cove community). Pallbearers will be Johnny Ketron, Mark Ketron, Greg Harvey, Kenny Young, Brad Cole and Dustin Manis. The family will meet at the funeral home at noon to go in procession to the cemetery. Linda R.
