GATE CITY, Va. Lelia Bloomer Vanzant, 81, entered into rest early Sunday (Oct. 8, 2000) at Holston Valley Medical Center after a year of declining health. She was born in Fairview, Va., the daughter of the late Garfield and Rheta Lyons Bloomer. Mrs. Vanzant was a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynton P. Vanzant Sr. (1994); son, George B. Vanzant (1999); three sisters; and three brothers. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Robert Morris, Jacksonville, Fla., Margaret Ann Bradshaw, Gate City, Anita and Michael Taylor, Gate City, Deborah L. Vanzant, Gate City, and Donna and Michael Eads, Kingsport; sons and daughters-in-law, Lynton Jr. (Bud) and Jewell Vanzant, Kingsport, Donnie and Linda Vanzant, Gate City, Danny and Terry Vanzant, Charlotte, N.C., and Garry and Linda Vanzant, Gate City; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Monnie Parsons, Vernice Barker, and Frances Jennings; brother, Bruce Bloomer; and several nieces and nephews.
