Hickman: 3rd Lt., Co., H. Age 25 and a farm hand on the 1860 Scott Co. census. Enlisted as a Pvt. 18 Mar 1862 and joined unit in field 02 Apr 1862. Elected 3rd Lt. 21 Apr 1862. Hospitalized sick by 30 Apr 1862. Present 10 Jun 1862 and 22 Sep 1862. AWOL by 01 Oct 1862 when he was courtmartialed, gulity of "overstaying a sick leave". Present and awaiting sentence of courtmartial 13 Feb 1863 when he submitted his resignation due to protracted illness and inability for military service. Resignation accepted 03 Mar 1863. Mike
