Nancy, I don't have a Polly Neeley. My connection is my grandmother, Victoria Sprinkle's sister, Emma Lee Sprinkle married William Joseph Neeley. (a redhead) with lots of redheaded children. Mary William Joseph Neeley (b) May 21, 1876 (d) March 21, 1922 married Dec. 20, 1898 to Emma Lee Sprinkle (b) March 21, 1875, Fairview, Scott County, VA (on Sun.) (d) February 7, 1931, VA (Sat.) THEIR CHILDREN: (birth & death dates need another verifying source) I have old letters of my Mama's (Edith G. Bledsoe) where she corresponded with these cousins. She missed them & the mountains dearly when we moved to Texas in 1945. She did get to visit a few time before she passed away in 1979. I treasure the wealth of information in her letters. She was a great communicator. I sure wish I had been a better listener & had access to the ones she wrote to them. I received the birthdates on the Neeley children, through the son of Mama's Uncle John Sprinkle, getting his information from Virginia Neeley. (the abt dates are my own). (1) George Neeley abt 1899 (have a 1900 Sprinkle family photo of all (12) Sprinkle children & one spouse, William Neeley holding his child, presumably, George). (no other info. on George). (2) Parolee Neeley (b) October 7, 1901 in Pennington Gap, VA. She married after my Mama, because she was a witness on their marriage license, when my parents eloped to TN to get married in 1926 & signed in her maiden name. She & my Mama were close. I have a little graduation book of Parolee's which Mama kept in her trunk of treasures. It is dated 1924, so I was believing her birthdate was closer to Mama (Edith Bledsoe) herself born in 1910. I was also told by Kathleen Wells Goode Dickenson (another cousin of Mama's) that in 1997, Parolee was 90 years old. Parolee married Carson C. Hensley (b) September 18, 1904 (d) July 1983 in Big Stone Gap, Wise, VA. I believe they had four sons. (3) Alverta Neeley (b) October 27, 1903 in Fairview, Scott, VA (d) August 26, 1988 Big Stone Gap, Wise, Va. She married (abt. 1919) William (Bill) R. Holland (b) (abt. 1899). and they had a son William (Bill) Holland, Jr. (b) (abt. 1920). (4) Edna Gertrude Neeley (b) December 5, 1907 married E. Truman Ely ( I found an Edna Ely in the SS death search (b) May 25 1911 (d) Mar 27 1996 and the last address given as Pennington Gap, Lee, VA 24277) could this be same person with correction on birth date?) (5) Vera Mae Neeley (b) June 18 1910, Fairview, Scott, VA (d) January 1996 in Big Stone Gap, Wise County, VA (she had moved back from Colorado after her 3rd husband, Ben died). When I was a child I remember her living in one part of the same house as my Aunt Virgie Sprinkle Wells. I guess it was like a big duplex with a big front porch. I know she had several redheaded children. I know they all laughed the way I always mashed the white bread in my hand, before I ate it, when (Aunt Mae, as I called her) gave it to me. Her first husband was Dick Barker and I believe she married him twice. Their children: Iris Barker (b) abt 1926. I don't know who she married, but they had a son name Lewis (b) abt. 1946 (d) abt 1971 in FL (I was told he was drag racing when killed). Iris Barker also had a daughter named Brenda (b) abt. 1948 Unknown Son Barker Ronnie Barker Dannie Barker Jerry Barker husband 2 for Vera Mae Neeley Barker was Loren K. Smith ( Mama got cards from CO). husband 3 for Vera Mae Neeley Barker Smith was Ben Chatfield in the 1970's. Mama got mail from Colorado & during her last days in 1979, I spoke with each on the phone, briefly. Ben died abt 1989.
