Everett Rains, 97, Watts Creek Road, Williamsburg, passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 25, 2000 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center, Corbin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Goldie Meadors Rains; a daugher, Atha Mildred Gant; and a son, William Herschel Rains. He and Rachel were married March 28, 1925. He was saved and baptised into the Watson Chapel Baptist Church in 1950 and has been a Deacon of Watson Chapel Baptist Church for many years. He started Rains Gas Company in 1961. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Debbie Bird and husband, E.S. of Williamsburg and Mrs. Evelyn Allgood and husband, R.L. of Winston Salem, North Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Jean Geary of Williamsburg; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 28 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doyle Lester officiating. Burial was in the Rains Cemetery. Sandra Kay Paul, 33, Jellico, Tennessee, passed away Friday morning, October 27, 2000 at the Jellico Community Hospital, Jellico, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Steely and Nannie Croley Paul; and a brother, James Paul. Survivors include one sister, Barbara Jean Parks and husband, Roger of Jellico, Tennessee; five brothers, Woodrow Paul and wife, Cassie of Williamsburg, Robert Paul and wife, Lena of Williamsburg, David Paul and wife, Carol of Williamsburg, Michael Paul and wife, Flora of Williamsburg, and Roger Paul and wife, Christine of Williamsburg; as well as several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. She is survived by her husband, Jim Gibson of Woodbine; ten children, William Marcum of Williamsburg, Dilphia Jonnson of Thomasville, Georgia, Wayne Gibson of Williamsburg, James Gibson of Williamsburg, Mary Kersey of Williamsburg, Lewis Gibson of Williamsburg, Shirley Hughes of Jellico, Tennessee, Fenly Gibson of Thomasville, Georgia, and Linda Williamson of Thomasville, Georgia; 30 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Beddie Lovitt of Rockholds. She was the daughter of the late France and Peggy Perkins Huddleston and the widow of the late Dillard Cooper. She was a member of the Church of God of the Mountain Assembly. Survivors include two sons, J.D. Cooper and wife, Pearl and George Cooper and wife, Evelyn, all of Toledo, Ohio; three daughters, Peggy Inks and husband, Don of London, Mary Jo Ulrich of Fairview, and Jane Moses and husband, Bill of Williamsburg; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Anderson; and her parents, Riley and Florence Lee Wilson. Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Rose and husband, Harold of Williamsburg; two sons, Carl Edward Anderson and wife, Betty of Williamsburg and James Riley Anderson and wife, Sonya of Williamsburg; three grandchildren; three sisters, Nora Jones of Williamsburg, Olenuel Croley of Hwy. 92-E, Williamsburg and Belva Smith of Waco; one brother, Kenneth Wilson of Williamsburg; a half-brother, Ray Smiddy of Indiana; as well as a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. She was an active member of the Lily Baptist Church for over 15 years and a member of the Baptist Young Women. She is survived by her parents, Orville and Joyce Collett Hoskins of the Lily Community, Corbin; two sisters, Carol Lay and husband, David of Williamsburg and Mary Massey and husband, John of Williamsburg; two brothers, Mike Hoskins and wife, Jeanine of Corbin and Vince Hoskins and wife, Suzy of Madisonville; nine nieces and nephews, Josh, Orville, and Genna Hoskins, Savannah and John Massey, Adam, Daniel and Rebecca Lay and Emily Hoskins; four uncles and 12 aunts; a special cousin, Duane Mays; special uncle, Sam Hoskins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
