    1. Re: Taylors
    2. Hi, I have a few Taylor questions and need some assistance. (1) Does anyone know of a Jesse or a James Taylor in the Scott Co. area and who they married, who were the parents, etc.? I have seen both names on records there but without any details as to dates of birth, spouses, parents or siblings (tax lists, etc.) so I can't determine if they are the correct Jesse and James. My 3g grandfather was a Jesse Taylor who was born in North Carolina and married in Pike County, Kentucky to Frankie Lucas. Several of my ancestors - the Moores, the Hawkins, probably the Rameys, etc. stopped for a while along the Clinch River Valley of Virginia before going on to Pike County. Jesse's father was James Taylor. I believed that James may have been married twice - once to a Mary and another time to a Sally Smith, daughter of Henry Smith as a James and Sally Smith Taylor engaged in land transactions while in S.W. Virginia dealing with Pike County land. (which still doesn't tell me if he is the ! fa! ther of Jesse.) 2. Does any one know anything about the descendants of Nimrod Taylor who lived in Scott County - did any move to North Carolina? There was a Nimrod Jarrett Taylor, chief of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee in the late 1880's who apparently was part Cherokee and resided in Cherokee County, N.C. One person reported to me that his wife was a Charlotte Hawkins and Hawkins is one surname I am researching. There is a little Cherokee in our family according to a second cousin on the Internet. She said one relative mentioned a "Red Hawk" Taylor who apparently married some relative. Thanks for any information which anyone can provide. Kay
