Jean KINGSPORT - Nora Vivian Rhoton Lyons, 100, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly at 9:15 p.m. Monday (March 19, 2001) at Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Scott County, Va., (Purchase community), she had made her home in Big Stone Gap, Va., until 1998 when she moved to Kingsport where she had made her home at Baysmont. Mrs. Lyons was a member of Ayers Chapel Church in Big Stone Gap, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Lyons; one daughter, Mrs. Lazell (Pauline) Boggs, March 8, 2001; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tivis Rhoton; one sister, Georgia Rhoton; six brothers, Walter Rhoton, Daniel Rhoton, Dave Rhoton, Frank Rhoton, Everette Rhoton and Arthur Rhoton. Surviving are two grandchildren, Mrs. Jim (Eloise) McKinney and Don Boggs and wife Mary, all of Kingsport; two great-grandchildren, Mrs. Brian (Vivian) Thacker, Mount Carmel and Patrick Boggs, Kingsport; three great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Eula Massengill and Bee Rhoton, both of Kingsport, Mandy Ethel Adams, Gray and Julia Gibson, Weber City, Va.; one brother, Mitchell Rhoton, Dayton, Ohio. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport. Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Elder John Henry Sybert officiating. Music will be provided by the Pleasant View Quartet. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Carter-McKinney Cemetery (Duffield, Va.). Pallbearers will be deacons of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
