A Davidson "cousin", who isn't subscribed to this list yet, was doing some Internet research on early land records. Washington County Surveyors Record of 1771 - 17??, on pg. 156 states "Daniel Davidson, assignee of James Davidson, Jr. ... 86 ac ... Treasury Warrant ....on both sides on Mockison Creek, north branch of the north fork of the Holston River .... beginning on a spur of Clynch Mountail .... corner to John Frazers land he now lives on .... on the north bank of the creek  .... Warrant #1249, dated December 27, 1780 ... Jan 22, 1783."  I couldn't find a definition of "Treasury Warrant" in my reference books. Can anyone help? Kay Davidson
