My GGGGgrandfather, John Redford/Radford alledgedly resided in Colonial Virginia during the late 1600/1700s. He was born with the surname Redford, and through his father's displeasure at his desire to marry a Cherokee lady, he changed his name to Radford, married the lady, and subsequently moved into Eastern Tennessee, finally dieing and being buried on the banks of the Duck River in Tennessee. None of the foregoing is documented... it is family verbal history. The place in Tennessee, where my documented family tree ends is in Maury County where my GGgrandfather, John Criag Radford, Jr. was born in 1816. He married my GGgrandmother, Mary May Clifton, who was born in Scott County, Virginia, in Lawrence County, Tennessee. Is there anyone on this list who is researching the Radford/Redford lines, who would care to compare notes?
