    3. I suggest you contact the Bristol newspaper. They may have some archives of the story. I remember when growing up there was an article about him when he was still alive. Later, when he died, they did quite a piece on him. One or both of these particular editions had pictures. I would also contact the Sons of the Confederacy to see what local organization they have around the area. They might have some things in their files, too. I do remember well that he was celebrated at the last living Confederate soldier and had the honorary title of General, although I think he was no more than a Private during the war. However, that is a worthy honor. I want to think he lived up around Saltville and their local paper might also have some information.
