    2. Ramona Nichols
    3. Hi, I am researching James Monroe Carter b abt 1836, son of Elijah Emory Carter and Matilda Taylor and James' wife Mary Kilgore b abt 1836 daughter of Robert Kilgore and Elizabeth Carter. James & Mary married 4 Feb 1853 in Scott County. I have 5 daughters for them, Eliza J. C. Carter (married 1. Henry Caraway in Hunt County, Texas), Margaret Elizabeth Carter (married Simeon Caraway in Collin County, Texas), Emily Matilda Carter (married James Dennis Johnson in Hunt County Texas), Nancy, and Martha. I know the first three daughters were born in Virginia but am not sure about the last two. I have not been able to find James and Mary in the 1860 or 1870 census. Any help or information appreciated. Ramona Caraway Nichols

    3. Joe, Thank you for the info on James Monroe Carter. Does the book give any indication as to when he died? I have found Mary in 1900 Hunt county Texas. It seems she never married again.
