Hello all: I have just concluded transcribing the first two sections of a wonderful article about Lee County and its mineral assets. The article is entitled "Gateway to the West" and was published in the December 2000 edition of the Appalachian Quarterly Magazine published by the Wise County Historical Society. I hope to finish the transcription of a few more articles this weekend. I would highly recommend that anyone researching family lines in this area subscribe to the magazine. This is my very first copy and I now know more about my home county then I ever imagined possible. It is my hope that I can continue to transcribe highlight articles from each edition and add them to the collection on the website.
