Does anyone know the meaning of Peder,Pedu,or P.D. after a name? In the Scott County 1822 Land Tax list there is "Cock David Peder" . It could be Peder or Pedu or even Pader. The usage continues for this same David Cox until 1825, when it is changed to "Cox David P.D." and the use of "P.D." continues until I see "Cocke David P.D. Estate". I know this is distinct from Jr, Junr, Sr, and Senr because I can identify names with these. Thanks, Martha Hansard New Market, TN

I'm not as familiar with Scott Co. locations as I am Russell Co. one's, but in the Russell tax lists if there is more than one person with the same name, they often have an abreviation after a name to designate which one it is referring to, such as (CC= Copper Creek, EG = Elk Garden, NG = New Garden, etc.) Mike
