    1. Re: Peder,Pedu,P.D. Meaning?

    3. Mike, You may be right about "P.D." or "Peder" being a place designator. David Cox acquired the property in 1820. In that same year there was also a "Cocke David Sr" and a "Cocke David Jr" in addition to this "Cox David" who later became known as "Cock David Peder" or "Cox David P.D." I haven't been able to determine any distinction among the various spellings of "Cocke," "Cock," or "Cox." I am just assuming if there is any consistency it is an accident. David Cox P.D. bought two parcels on the "North Side of Clinch River." I really haven't connected him to anyone in my Cox line but the 1847 land tax records indicate that his heirs were Jacob William Cox, James David Henderson, Henry A. Cox and Isaac Cox. Maybe someone else is interested.
