I'm sorry if this is a repeat message for any of you other subscribers. I have only a little info about my father, JOHN CLEVELAND MEYERS, written in pencil on a scrap of paper with multiple grammar and spelling errors. I believe he was born in Scott County, VA in Mar 1886. M died 2 mos, F died 11 yrs. He died in Portsmouth, Va in Feb 1935 when I was 10, leaving me an orphan, and with virtually no info about his ancestors or siblings. "Justis (Justice) Roper", who wrote the note that I have, repeatedly writes "Catt County". But since there is no Catt County, and he mentions Gate City, which is in Scott County, I think "Catt" is an error. He also wrote the names Samuel Meyers, John Frederick Meyers, and Mary Elizabeth Meyers, with no indication of who they were. JCM may have been in Cincinnati in 1910 (living with a sister?). I'm searching for any records in the 1800's for a family named Meyers or any of the many variables in the spelling (Meyer, Myer(s), Meier(s), Mayer(s), etc. The note says "Samuel Meyers Galveston tex when last herd from". I would appreciate any leads or source suggestions anyone might have. Thanks! John Meyers
