There is a Darthula Baptist Church on VA SR 689 to the north of US 58 near Hiltons, VA. There is a cemetery with the church. Many licks may have meant a lot of small streams. I think that lick was a small stream in the early 1800s. Jim Brown

Hi, I need some assistance in locating a couple of places in Scott County since I am not acquainted with the area. I am looking for the old Sulphur Springs (also called Darthula) Baptist Church. Does it still exist in operation, or been torn down? I would like to know of its history, and if there is a cemetery close by as well as the directions to find it. This church is noted in the book History of Scott Co. Also I am still looking for the location of a place called Many Licks as recorded back in the 1800's in Scott Co.
