    3. I have the Scott co index of Cemetery records. There is a Gate City/Estill cemetery listed with the note that is detailed in book 1 pages 107-114. The name index has a full page three columns of Ramey listed in various cemeteries in Scott County. Phyllis Peterson is the one that transcribed the original six books and created the index I have. There is a William Walter Ramey in the Estill cemetery details would be on page 109 Annie Kate is on page 108 in book 1 William P Hilton is listed on page 107 Many Hiltons are buried in the Hilton cemetery shown on page 131-139 book 1 and updated in book 3 page 133 There is a Hilton grid on the map shown in the front of the index. Hope this will give you a little help in knowing which book to order. I have found Phyllis very helpful and a great source of detailed info. Teresa & Jack jatsh@msn.com

    3. Hi Kathy, I am also interested in this cemetery. I have been searching for a man named Clayton Ramey, maybe he's my great great grandfather.?? My great great grandmother was Kate Gibson born 1822 in Scott county Va, she had three illegitimate children, her first was named John born 1842 Scott county Va, Kate brought the three boys to Ky and after they were grown and married John changed his name to Ramey and another one changed his name to Collins, and the third died before changing his name. I decend from John Ramey, I was told the reason Kate Gibson did not marry Clayton Ramey was because he was already married to a Indian woman and had several children. If anyone knows anything about a Clayton Ramey or Kate Gibson please contact me. 3. The library there in Gate City has a book that has all the cemeteries listed in it. All the names for the people buried there may be incomplete, but it will have some names and a location. I have searched the Browder Cemetery this way and then searched and found a contact that knew some of the unknown sites where there wasn't a marker. One turned out to be my great-grandmother but I am still searching to get something on record for sure before I get the marker. The library is on the main strip through Gate City across from the Court House. I've been a subscriber to this list for years now, but have been pretty quiet lately, busy working mostly. I just wanted to point out something, and I know we've all talked about this before, but when replying to a query from the list please reply to the list and not just the person who posted the question. These mailing lists are archived so they can be searched later but it seems we end up with an archive full of questions with no answers. Most email programs have the option to "reply to all" instead of the standard "reply", that way the reply goes to the list and the sender of the original message. Some lists are set up so the replies go back to the list by default. Some folks don't like it that way because it adds a lot of "me too's", "Thank you's" and chatter on the list. It's just my opinion, but I would rather weed through the chatter than have nothing to weed through. Respectfully, pat pat drake Scott Co. 3. Libraries have the subscriptions to this service, it isn't sold to individuals. If your local library has a subscription, then you can accesss Heritage Quest Online through your library. It's a free service...all you need is a library card. If your library provides online access, then you can use it at home. Mary South

    1. [VASCOTT-L] Heritage Quest Subscriptions
    2. Some had written to tell me Heritage Quest would no longer be accepting subscriptions. I was very disappointed, as this has been an awesome resource for me. I decided to contact the Godfrey Library (where my subscription is held) to see what they knew. Five minutes after I sent my e-mail, I had this response. Thought I'd share it and again encourage you to join. There are many, many every-word-searchable books about Scoot County (and I'm sure many, many others) available here online. Susan/ CA "Hi. That rumor refers to the old Heritage Quest company that was sold 3 years ago. They posted on their website (which is still online) that their QuestClub (much like a Sam's Club for discount buying) for buying books, CDs etc. was ending with their sale. They were sold to ProQuest which still uses the brand of HeritageQuest Online when they put the data online. Heritage Quest itself never put the data online. So, in short. Your library card with the library will be available for years to come.
