My Foley's descend from Christopher Foley who lived in Patrick County Virginia. My great great great grandmother was Lucinda Foley Jefferson.

The Reed's I am talking about trace their ancestry back to the RUSSELL family in the early 1800's. Beginning concretely with Matthew Russell who was married to a Polley Unknown. We are wondering if her real surname could have been Reed. The family goes by Russell and Reed. I am a Reed.

Well, I, for one, want anyone who has information on the surnames Benton, Nunn or Groom(e) in Scott County to respond to the LIST, since that's what a mailing list is for and why I've subscribed. I'm looking for William Thomas Benton who came to Scott County sometime around 1840 from Caswell County, North Carolina. William was married to Dorothy Elizabeth (Betsy) Groom(e) and I'm not sure at this time, but I think some of her brothers may also have come to Scott County. William & Betsy's son, Zachariah Benton, also came to Scott County about the same time. Zachariah's wife was Mary Nunn.
