Excellent site! Great work! Unfortunately it didn't crack my brick wall of parents for my Sarah"Sally" Elizabeth HELTON/HILTON/HILTON born abt.1760 who married Captain Charles Grafton MABRY in VA in 1785. There are a few theories about her birth but no records yet. If anyone has my Sally, please let me know. Thanks Debbie http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=shelton1

Just thought I'd send a little note to let you all know that I've had some spare time to update my website. I recently added a Humor page and have additional links to sites of interest. Oh... and before I forget... my surname database has been updated. Stop on in when you get a chance! And if you are lazy like me and don't want to waste time deleting it twice (from both inbox and trash), just hit Shift-Delete. At least this works when using Netscape. Not all genconnect messages are forwarded to the lists. This is a joint decision made by the list owner and the board admin. Some folks love it and some don't, but aren't we all looking for information? The genconnect posts usually have good subject lines, just hit the delete key. pat At 07:24 AM 03/05/2001 -0800, you wrote: >KARich: >In addition to what Larry wrote, all genconnect messages are forwarded >to the county Rootsweb mailing lists. What are these "[email protected]" notices I am receiving by the hundreds? How do I stop them or at least control them? Can you do a 'Digest' mode to at least concentrate them? Does anyone know?
Morning, My guess is that you signed up to be notified when an event occurred on one of the genconnect forums. It appears that whatever it was occurs a lot. You should have received a notice that told you were subscribing to the notification process - that should also tell you how to stop the notices. Of course it is also possible that someone did this for you - still you should have received notice that it was happening. Should that not work for you - perhaps there is someone here who can do a better job of helping you end the messages. Or you can try going to www.rootsweb.com then to the genconnect forum(s) if that is where they are. Another possibility is the Family Tree Maker site - which I don't have at my fingertips. Good luck, Larry At 07:46 AM 3/5/2001, [email protected] wrote: >What are these "[email protected]" notices I am receiving by >the hundreds? How do I stop them or at least control them? KARich: In addition to what Larry wrote, all genconnect messages are forwarded to the county Rootsweb mailing lists. There was a discussion several months ago regarding the duplicate messages on one of my other mailing lists. Several subscribers were upset because they were getting duplicate messages. On one of my lists there is the notice of the message being posted with a link to genconnect and then the actual message comes through again later. I don't know if there is any way to stop the genconnect notices from coming through. The next time you get one, read the notice at the bottom. There may be a way to stop them. Just to let you know, I did not sign up to receive these genconnect notices. They just started coming. You probably didn't either. Corinne
From: "Sherry Wilhoit" <[email protected]> [ Save address ] To: [email protected] Subject: Fuller Family Date: Sat, 3 Mar 2001 20:06:23 -0000 Does anyone have information about the children of Stephen Fuller, SR b. 1766 and Sephen Fuller, Jr of Russel Co. They both are listed in the 1820 Russel Co census and Stephen is listed in the household with Thomas J. Fuller in the 1850 Scott Co Census. I think Stephen Jr was my ggg grandfather. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Sherry Wilhoit Sherry, Stephen Fuller of the 1850 Scott Co. census was not a son of Stephen Fuller b. 1766. He was a son of Abraham Fuller & Mary Sargent. This can be proven from the family bible records of both Stephen & Abraham. Here are the links: http://www.rootsweb.com/~varussel/vitals/bible/abramfullerbible.html http://www.rootsweb.com/~varussel/vitals/bible/sfullerbible.html You will see that Stephen is listed in the Abraham Fuller bible record. If you look at the Stephen Fuller b. 1766 will you will also see your Stephen isn't listed as a child. Here's that link: http://www.rootsweb.com/~varussel/probate/stephenfuller.html Just as a note, Stephen Fuller b. 1766 and Abraham Fuller were brothers, sons of Henry Fuller & Catherine Salling. You might also be interested in the Abraham Fuller family cemetery. Here's a link to that: http://www.rootsweb.com/~varussel/cemeteries/abramfullercem.html Also, if you go to the Russell County VAGenWeb page you will find additional Fuller info. Mike

Hello All: Lots has happened at Hills and Hollers since my last update notice. Please bear with me as I try to explain. First, I am honored to report that Hills and Hollers, My Mountain Home website has been selected by Appalachian Heritage as the first "Special Site Recognition Award" winner for 2000! I owe all the honors to the folks who have provided information for display and to those who have signed the Guest Register and left me many great ideas. Without you, the site is really boring! Second, I have purchased the domain name of <www.hillsandhollers.net> You can now enter that URL and it will automatically direct you to the website. The domain purchase was an effort to make remembering the site address much easier. Hope that helps, if you have bookmarks using the <http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~duncanrw> URL, they will continue to work. You might want to use the <http://www.hillsandhollers.net> URL and update the bookmark. Along with the purchase of the domain name, I have created a new email address for the site. <[email protected]> You can use it now! As always, my primary email of <[email protected]> will work as well. Third, thanks to some more great contributors, I have added more files on families and more family photos, a cemetery transcription, an old photo of the Glamorgan School, and some more new links to other sites. I have a lot of photos to scan and add. I am working as fast as I can! Also, I am working on finding a search engine plug-in (without advertisements) to help researchers quickly "scan" the site. Since Rootsweb does not have CGI capabilities for the homepages server, I must use a commercially available search engine rather than creating one of my own. I am also searching for another site to store the material that will allow those programming capabilities. I am hoping that everyone out there will get inspired and start searching for material to add to the site. You'd be amazed at what you may have "hiding away" in your possession. My promise to you is that I will never claim ownership of any material you choose to display at Hills and Hollers. It gets posted on your command and will be removed on your command! I will continue to maintain the site as long as it is affordable. My hope is to try to preserve a little bit of our mountain heritage through the stories and pictures. Until next time, thanks for everything! Yes, we are having a Genealogy Seminar. The date is Saturday June 23 and we are going to be able to use the SCC college classrooms that we used last year. I am just finishing up the class details. We are going to have classes on German, Black, Mulengeon, Scottish and Cherokee Heritage in addition to other genealogy classes. Janet Roberson, Register of Deeds, is going to have a class at the Deeds office in the courthouse showing people what they have and how to find it. I will have all the details up on the Historical Society website shortly so watch for it. Please help spread the word on the seminar. I will be sending an e-mail to all the NC county coordinators when the information is on the website. If you have, or know someone who has, access to the state mailing lists of GA, SC, VA and or TN and could alert these counties let me know.
A few months ago there was correspondence regarding Comfort Rhoton. Later, a very nice gentleman forwarded me his entire Rhoton family and I find that Comfort was a sister of my g'g'gma Jerusha. I would appreciate a contact from Comfort's family with any information you might have. Thanks. Nora e-mail at: [email protected]
Do any subscribers have access to the published death record abstracts of Scott Co., VA? I am interested in Peter FITCH. Thank you. C. Ward [email protected]
I have a few families that left Scott County and settled in Morgan County, Kentucky and would like to hear from anyone that might be researching these two areas. Joanne
Does anybody have access to the 1910 Scott County Birth records? If so, I would appreciate a lookup on Verna Berle Akers. She was born in Dungannon. Thank You, Greg
