    2. I am looking for information on Rosalia HALE born Scott County, October 1874 based on a census and marriage register. In 1896 she was attending Mt. Pleasant Church as the married Rosa Hale MANN. Her mother Ruth HALE and married sister, Lillie Hale WELLS also attended. Most importantly I am looking for her birth records. Does anyone have any ideas for me? Are these church records available? Should I try the county? The state? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Susan Petersen

    3. Hi! Having been on so many lists for so long..this what I know about Roll Call. The list manager or "owner" is the one who decides when it is an appropriate time for a roll call..Each of us would send in a roll call response in which we would include in the subject line of our email (sent to the list)..our Surnames and or dates...in the body of the message we put any number of Surnames and/or info about which families we are researching. This way, we can share our info with new members or those who share common surnames. 3. Here is a website that I found that could be very helpful to anyone researching their family history. I've had some success already, and I just found it yesterday. A large group of volunteers has joined together to visit cemeteries in their local areas. Some offer to take photographs of headstones that are there, and I even saw one that could take a video. Check it out. Donna

    1. Re: Taylors
    2. Donny correctly pointed out that I needed to add dates to my Taylor question. Jesse Taylor was born about 1800 according to censuses. A second cousin estimates his father James was born about 1775. Please disregard my second question about the Nimrod Taylors in Scott County; I had one of my facts about Nimrod the Cherokee Chief wrong and now don't necessarily think there is a Scott County connection. Thanks for any information. Kay

    2. Hi, I have a few Taylor questions and need some assistance. (1) Does anyone know of a Jesse or a James Taylor in the Scott Co. area and who they married, who were the parents, etc.? I have seen both names on records there but without any details as to dates of birth, spouses, parents or siblings (tax lists, etc.) so I can't determine if they are the correct Jesse and James. My 3g grandfather was a Jesse Taylor who was born in North Carolina and married in Pike County, Kentucky to Frankie Lucas. Several of my ancestors - the Moores, the Hawkins, probably the Rameys, etc. stopped for a while along the Clinch River Valley of Virginia before going on to Pike County. Jesse's father was James Taylor. I believed that James may have been married twice - once to a Mary and another time to a Sally Smith, daughter of Henry Smith as a James and Sally Smith Taylor engaged in land transactions while in S.W. Virginia dealing with Pike County land. (which still doesn't tell me if he is the ! fa! ther of Jesse.) 2. Does any one know anything about the descendants of Nimrod Taylor who lived in Scott County - did any move to North Carolina? There was a Nimrod Jarrett Taylor, chief of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee in the late 1880's who apparently was part Cherokee and resided in Cherokee County, N.C. One person reported to me that his wife was a Charlotte Hawkins and Hawkins is one surname I am researching. There is a little Cherokee in our family according to a second cousin on the Internet. She said one relative mentioned a "Red Hawk" Taylor who apparently married some relative. Thanks for any information which anyone can provide. Kay
