Laudermilk 1866 in Buchanan Co., had one dau, Lydia, born 1868. 5. Neely Patton McGlothlin - son of Patton George McLaughlin and Mary Ann Ray; born Apr 1873 in VA, died abt 1910; married Stacy C. Street in 1890 and had six children. 6. Cornelius McGuire McLaughlin - aka Neely; born abt 1802 in VA, died Aug 29 1849 in Russell Co., married Mary Polly Honaker abt 1827 in Russell Co., and had 12 children. 7. Cornelius McGuire McLaughlin - aka Neely; born Feb 1822 in Russell Co., son of Davis Larkin McLaughlin and Elizabeth _____; had four children by Prissa Compton then married her in 1869; she may have died between 1880-1890; he remarried 18 yr old Rosa Ellen Thompson in 1897 and died (happily) soon thereafter. 8. Cornelius B. McLaughlin - from Stephen's line (who kept original spelling); son of William Frank McLaughlin and Amanda _____; he was born 1895 in TX and died after 1920; married Nancy M. _____ also of TX. 9. Isreal Cornelius McLaughlin - from Elias' line (who mostly kept original spelling) born Feb 25, 1859 in VA, died May 12 1939 in Fitztown, OK; son of Nathan McLaughlin and Esther Fugate; married Tibiatha Ann Smith 1891 in TX and had 14 children. 10. Isreal Cornelius McLaughlin - son of above Isreal, born 1885, died 1886. 11. John Cornealious McLaughlin - grandson of #9; born Mar 8 1908 in Fitztown, OK, died after 1953; son of Nathan Booker McLaughlin and Pearl Emily McAvoy; married Ruby Dennegan in 1928 and had five children; later married Patsy Ervin in 1953. Many of these were named after grandfathers, uncles, etc. Number 6, Cornelius McGuire McLaughlin may have been named after a nearby elder named Cornelius McGuire. His signature was seen on some early Russell Co. records. Others may have named after Elias McLaughlin, a younger brother of the Rev. War soldiers (Jacob/John/Stephen). Elias may have been a shortened version of Cornelius. Elias was the son of J. and Ann McLaughlin; born about 1778 in NC, died 1816 in Russell Co., married Mary Wampler in 1802 and had eight children. Most of Elias' children lived and died in SW VA; a daughter moved to Missouri after marriage, and a grandson (Nathan) died in Erath Co. TX. Strangely enough, just two years back I met a descendant of Nathan (his great grandson Samuel McLaughlin) living only 20 miles away in Winfield, Kansas! There were undoubtedly more Cornelius/Nealy/Neely McLaughlin/McGlothlins so I continue to keep my feelers out. My husband's G-Grandfather was Nealy McGlothlin married to Margie Arwood.
