    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: TAYLOR, MARTIN, FERRELL Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ABC.2ACE/3720.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Cindy, Bob and Jim Now you all know I have more questions than answers. Information on these Taylors and Martins is scarce. I have a marriage license for Philip Driver and Sarah Jane Martin, 1876) daughter of William Patton and Margaret Martin. It has on the bottom of the document that the marriage was conducted at the home of Catharine Taylor. I would think Catharine is the sister to Margaret and is Sarah Jane's aunt. The 1860 Census for Hendrix Mills Post Office, Page 94, Russell county, has Isaac Tarylor 56 and Catharine, 52. James A, 16, Celia A, 11. 1870 Census has Taylor, Issac, 64 and Catharine, 62. They also have Issac Martin, 14 living with them. (WP and Peggy had a son named Isaac.) 1880 Census has Taylor, William P, 47, (son of Isaac). Living with the family is Catharine, 73, mother. 1840 Census, Russell Co., Page 10. Issac Taylor over 20 under 30 (ie. 20/30) with 2 boys and 4 girls. Next line has Crabtree Taylor. He has been listed on just about every census, same sheet or close by. Also listed is Richard Ferrell, over 40 with one female over 40. Four boys and and 6 girls. 1840 Census, Russell County, William Martin, over 40/50 with 1 female over 30/40. Also 2 sons 10/15 and 3 girls 0/5 and one over 10/15. David Martin, 50/60 5 sons, 1 is 11/15, 3 are 15/20, 1 is 20/30 Also on that page is a William Taylor, 50/60 John Taylor 30/40 Stephen Taylor 20/30 Andrew Martin 50/60. 1 female 50/60, 1 female 0/5, 1 is 15/20 and 1 is 15/30. There are others but I think our interest is attached to one of these families. What we need is a time line charted so we can bracket our person's age and get a close match from the earlier ennumerations. I think Margaret (Peggy) Martin died prior to 1870 probably during child birth. I also believe that William Patton married Lydia Hickman based on the following tidbit: What ever took place evidently broke the family up. I am anxious to get your opinions on this. Not Confirmed: [37585] 1. "Tazewell Co (VA) Marriages, 1854-1866" Register No 3, Year 1866, transcribed by *******". William P. Martin, age 42, born (1824) in Russell Co, VA, widowed, son of Charles and Nancy Martin, married on 24 Jun 1866 Lydia Hickman, age 24, born in Tazewell Co, VA, daughter of Rachel Hickman. Married by R.P. Steel. Bob Crabtree
