James' parents are suppose to have been Elisha Thompson b. abt 1750 and wife Elizabeth Unknown who married in Rowan Co NC in 1767. James married Agnes Jane. I am now reasonably sure that the nine Thompson sibling's father was named John Thompson. He appears on the 1782 Washington Co., VA tax list on John Kinkead's list along with sons John, Richard & William. He also appears on the 1772 Botetourt County list of tithables on the Clinch River. William & Nancy "Jackson" Thompson had a son named James b. abt 1794 who married Mary Smith. Sorry, Mike
