Surnames: Richmond Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ABC.2ACE/3777 Message Board Post: Hopefully, some Richmond descendants will see this: Rutherford County, North Carolina Deed Book E, page 96: 3 October 1786 JOHN RICHMOND of Henry Co., Va. to John Taber of Rutherford Co., NC for 100 pounds, tract of land on both sides of Beaverdam Creek of Broad River including his own improvement and the mill. Patented was granted to said JOHN RICHMOND 2 March 1775. Witness JAMES RICHMOND. There are several references to this John Richmond in Mecklenburg Co., NC and earlier Old Tryon, Anson area that has John Richmond there as early as the 1840s. This John seems to be the same as the one who died in Russell Co., Va about 1807-08. Many resarchers have him from Caswell Co., NC, which I doubt. IF he descends from an Abraham Richmond, the key must be in NC and not eastern Virginia.
