My 3rd great grandmother was Martha Jane McGee, who married Jeremiah Compton Jr. in 1839. Martha Jane's mother's name was Martha but I don't know anything else. She was in Russell Co. by 1840. She was a native of Patrick Co. and was rumored to be full blooded indian. No one has been able to help me identify this group yet but I suspect that Martha could be the wife of Angus McGee. I'm hoping someone can help that has more access to records than I do. Chris,

Angus McGhee md. Patsy Thornton 22 Oct 1818 in Henry County, Va. This must have been his 2nd wife. Angus McGhee was born abt 1780 according to the 1820 census of Franklin County, Virginia. I do not find Angus McGhee in the census except for 1820. Sarah McGhee married Isaac Boyd, Sr. 16 Dec 1826 in Franklin Co., Va., Angus McGhee was surety for this marriage. In 1830 Isaac, Sr. and Sarah McGhee Boyd were in Patrick Co., Va. In 1840 and 1850 they were in Russell, 1860 and 1870 they were in Buchanan Co., Va. I am looking for any of Angus McGhee's descendant's.
