    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Holbrook McCoy Gibson Cooksey Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ABC.2ACE/3871.1.2.1 Message Board Post: Mina, I liked your first answer better. Here is why I don't think Elizabeth was a Holbrook: 1. She is age 54, b. Russell Co, in 1850 census. John Holbrook and Mary Cooksey (the likely parents if she were a Holbrook) were not on the Russell tax list until 1798, indicating they likely were not in Russell in 1796. That alone, I could concede, but -- 2. In the 1820 census, John Holbrook is dead, and widow Mary is the only female in the household. Thomas McCoy and Elizabeth's oldest child was b. ca 1825, so they probably were not married in 1820. So Elizabeth should have been living with Mary if she were a daughter. It's possible she was living with someone else, but 1 & 2 taken together cast some doubt in my mind that she was a Holbrook. Please let me know if you find anything further that proves or disproves Elizabeth's (b. ca 1796) name. Max
