Born June 13, 1931, in Swords Creek, he was a son of James Patton and Annie Bostic Dye. A lifelong resident of the Swords Creek area, he was a member of the Lynn Springs Free Will Baptist Church. He was a disabled coal miner, having been employed by Jewell Ridge Coal Company. He was a member of the UMWA Local 1594. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Dye, his stepmother, Dora Hess Dye, brothers, Bert Dye, Ken Dye, James Ray and Bill Dye and sisters, Beulah Hubbard, Marie Patton, Vida Harris, Geneva Hess, Maryann Dye and Evelyn Dye. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Della Mae Dye of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Randall and Brenda Dye and Randy and Sue Dye, all of Sword Creek, and Keith and Angela Dye of Belfast, Va.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Diane Mann of Lynn Springs, Donna and Billy Lester of Belfast and Loretta Lynn and Johnny Rasnake of Big A Mountain; two brothers, Frank Dye of Honaker and Perry Dye of Swords Creek; two sisters, Ebbie Hess and Louise Dye, both of Swords Creek; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Larry Dye, Rev. Tommy Dye, Rev. Russell Corns and Rev. Sylvia Price officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon. Pallbearers will be Roger Hubbard, Rafty Dye, Michael Dye, Cecil Dye, Ivan Harris, Danny Hess, Dallas Dye, Lowell Batton and Manuel Breedlove. Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Dye Jr., Larry Fuller Jr., Jason Dye, Kolby Dye, Tolley Ball, Nathan White, Buford Coleman and Doug Bowman.
