Emily appears to have been the daughter of Alexander Lee and his wife (first cousin) Sarah Guthrie Lee. They were part of the Lee's of Virginia who spawned (among others) the great General Robert E. Lee. I know that James and Emily split up, but no details. My daughter-in-law is the multiple greats granddaughter of Emeline Compton, daughter of James and Emily, who married Richard Yates.
