Well, in black and white photos, many people have dark skin. Be ready to accept the possibility that you may have black people in your ancestry. That is much more likely than Indian. Quite often Mulattos would try to pass themselves as Indians since Indians made poor slaves and were free to travel. Some people have trouble dealing with black ancestry and invent groups like Melungeons to offer a more dramatic and exotic explanation for their ancestors.
