According to an 1870 census, Simon's home was in Pike County, Georgia but his birthplace was Virginia. The 1870 census also indicated that he was single and 20 years old which suggest that he was probably born around 1850 in Virginia. I also located in Pike County, Georgia records a marriage of Simon Grigger to Dora Ballard on May 3, 1873. If this is the same Simon, he may be related to my ggggrandmother, Rachel Grigger (b. 1854) who married Edward Williams (b.1841) on May 8, 1873 in Pike County, Georgia. NOTE: Rachel's and Simon's marriage dates are five day apart. If any of these family names are familiar, I would appreciate your responding to jhill@phrd.com.
