First of all there is a State Law in the State of Virginia along with most states today. This man simply because he bought the property can't do as he wishes. If someone has a few pictures of the Cemetery and with all the information that you have about just a few of who are buried there he can be stopped. I have family in Russell County and have helped to stop the same thing here in the State of Indiana where I now live. 1. Call or go on line for the State of Virginia and contact the Governors office with e-mail's flood the offices of your State Senators and Representatives. Call or write write away. 2. Call the local Court House and find out why they are not following the letter of the law for your state concerning this cemetery. DEMAND ACTION and inform that you are contacting the newspapers. 3. Contact the newspapers in the area and tell them what is happening and try to get a story in the newspaper. Make sure that you also inform the Governor and others you contact that this is a step you are following that the newspapers are going to be informed. 4. Contact any Historical Society, Archives, DAR and SAR in the general area not just the county involved. 5. Call or e-mail the DAR and SAR for help in the matter including all the Historical people close to an in the area for help and their input. 6. If I am not mistaken in Virginia they either have to fence and let the area stand or pay for the removement and reinterment of every grave there, call a funeral home and find out the cost of one grave removement and reinterment, then call your local officials and inform them and state you expect them to do their jobs which is to uphold the laws of the State of Virginia. (the more people that call the more they will pay attention or the more e-mail they get the more they will listen) 7. Get petitions about saving this cemetery out in the county and have people sign it and get flyers up everywhere. The people that live right there probably don't know what is happening and some may have family buried there. 8. Get everyone you know that is upset about this to call, write, e-mail, phone everyone they know starting with the man at the top and work your way down but do it fast!!! Linda
