Ervin J decended as follows: William Combs, Jr and Anna Thompson Jacob Combs and Martgaret "Peggy" Herndon Fielding Combs and Sarah Smith William J Combs and Ellen Catherine Williams Samuel Loren Combs and Melissa Duty Ervine J Combs Carter Ervin J. Combs Ervin J. Combs, age 90 of Fairborn, passed away Monday June 9, 2008 in the Patriot Ridge Community. He was born January 27, 1918 in Venia, Virginia, the son of the late Samuel and Melissa (Duty) Combs. Ervin served his country in the United States Army during World War II and followed with civil service employment in aircraft maintenance at Wright-Patterson AFB, retiring after 30 years of service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Nora Fletcher and Bessie Combs. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Kate; two daughters, Phyllis West and husband Jim of Xenia, Brenda Combs of Fairborn; a grandson, Dan Dennard of Fairborn; a granddaughter, Dina Herdman and husband Rich of Enon; and two great-granddaughters, Leah and Lacy Herdman. Ervin's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Patriot Ridge Community for the care they provided. The family will receive friends on Friday June 13, 2008 from 6 until 8 p.m. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road., Fairborn, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday June 14, 2008 at 1 p.m., Pastor Mark W. Douras officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Byron Cemetery. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Patriot Ridge Community.
