He was b. 14 Oct 1756 in Halifax Co VA & entered service in Bedford Co VA. He had lived in Montgomery Co VA for 9 yrs before moving to Scott Co. He mentions that Thomas Slone could make statement for him, but Thomas was a "non resident" , old & infirm. John Pendleton, a clergyman made statement for him, as did William Fallen, James Williams, Robert Speer, and Joshua Speer who was a JP in Scott Co.
