Story # 1 says Joseph was a sea Captain, sailed away one day never returned. Story #2 said he was a peddler, and gave daughters to Jenkins family, being unable to care for them. Family started out in Philly, Pa. Later showed up in Botetourt Co Va. Two orphans girls , one named Rachel md. John Dempsey 1784, a man named Jenkins signed as her guardian on marriage bond.
