She says that her husband served in "western Virginia" under Col Campbell, Capt Scott & Capt Thompson, but does not say from what county. Rachel Hatfield of Campbell Co (at age 84) made statement for her in 1843 & said that she was present at the marriage of Eli Smith & Jane Denna(?), and that the marriage was performed by Simon Cockerl(?) Richard Crabtree also made statement 1843 (at age 78) & said he served with Eli Smith. Joseph Hart & John Kincaid, esq also made statements. They were married 8 Apr 1783 & he died 19 Apr 1836.
