The letter also refers to the "department". It was written 1834. Have looked for the file for Samuel Fields & it's not in the Footnote files, either. Have seen a couple of files that say that an entire declaration & all papers were sent to the offices of the petitioner's State Representative to take before the legislature... Have also seen files that have a letter saying that the declaration was returned for need of further proof... I'm still looking...
