He was 72 in 1833. There is a copy of the marriage bond for Edward Smith & Hannah Crabtree, the other bondsman being Ezekiel Kelly. The bond is dated 30 Aug 1787 & Hannah states they were m. 6 Sept 1787. Edward gives as references William Snodgrass of Sullivan Co TN, Jacob Crabtree Sr & John Fulkerson of Lee Co VA, and Jonas Smith of Washington Co VA, all of whom made statements for him. Abraham Crabtree, clergyman & resident of Lee Co VA also made statement for him. In 1853 Hannah filed in Owsley Co KY for widows pension, & gives dod for Edward as 6 Dec 1852 in Owsley Co KY. In 1856 she files for bounty land in Estill Co KY at age 88. Thomas Hall of Owsley Co KY made statement for her & stated that he knew them since 1810 or 12.
