He stated he was b 1763 or 1764 in Augusta Co VA & entered service in Washington Co VA. His widow filed for pension from Lumpkin Co GA. John McCroskey m. Margaret on 14 Apr 1790 in Washington Co VA. (Have another source that says her maiden name was Margaret Duff) Margaret was 76 in 1851. John died 10 Feb 1850. Their son John D. said he was their 3rd child. James M. Hughes said he was a grandchild. In a letter from a lawyer in 1846 who undertook his case, it's stated that he served with the following men: Thomas Price, pensioner of Hawkins Co TN James Jackson, pensioner of Harlan KY William Johnson, pensioner of Estill Co KY Thomas Johnson, pensioner of Augusta Co VA Daniel Price, pensioner of Russell Co VA Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
