He was b. in Ireland & came with his father to the US & lived in York Co PA, then Augusta Co VA. John moved to Holston in 1772 where he was living when he entered service. He died 9 Aug 1837 in Washington Co. He m. Nancy Hayter 1780, & she d. 11 Apr 1839. Their dau Margaret (Jameson) Hayter filed for pension due her father & mother in 1853 at age 58. She named the children as: Susannah (dec'd, left 1 child) Mary (dec'd left 2 children) Jane (dec'd, left 2 children) Ann (dec'd, left 4 children) Sally (dec'd) William (dec'd, left 2 children) Patsy (Jameson) McHaffy John (dec'd, left 8 children) Edward H.
