But grandmother's birth certificate gave William's birth place as Tennessee. Her mother, however, was born in Virginia. I'm not sure where. I just know William worked as a farmer in Lebanon through the 1890s until at least the 1920 census. By the 1930 census, they had moved to Cleveland, Russell County, and bought a house. What info I have comes from the Russell County genealogy web site and the census records and gransmother's birth certificate.
