I know of some Duffs, descendants of Oscar's nephew Samuel Adams Duff, living near Bristol, could try to dig out contact info. I haven't managed to locate the old Duff mill or cemetery in Belfast yet, but a picture of the mill (in considerable disrepair) has circulated in print and on the internet, including on the Russell Co. Civil war site. Yeah, I know the general location pretty well now, and some relatives on the Steele side (my ggg-grandma was Malinda Steele) located the cemetery on New Garden Rd. and took a few pictures there within the past month. It should be very close to the old house I'm trying to locate, if it's still standing. I'd be much obliged for more help--I'm planning a trip there in mid-November (first chance I'll have), and can use all the clues I can get. If you're interested or don't have 'em already, I've got a bit of material on Oscar Duff, he was a POW in Ft. Delaware the same time as Sam, when most of Co. C of the 37th Va. were overrun and captured at Spottsylvania, that I could send. -Tres Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
