I don't know how to preserve them, but I would suggest contacting a museum with a preservation specialist to ask. From my days years ago working in textile conservation, I know a lot of damage is done by well-meaning people, including people at small local museums. Personally, the first thing I would do is take a series of digital photos to preserve what is there just in case. They can also be shared that way. One room is wallpapered in old newspapers, some are in in the 1800s. Some have come off. My question is how can we perserve them. We thought a coating of something but thought that might do further damage. We thought of plexy glass but someone said that moisture would get behind that. Does anyone have any suggestions? Have them photographed with a good (7MP or better digital camera, use diffuse light (reflected off something like white board) to prevent bright reflections. Then post the images on Rootsweb or the Russell County site. If you cannot do it, I would volunteer to photograph them. As far as preserving the papers themselves, Randy Crouse McNew Huntsville, AL -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Roberta J.
