He entered service 1776 in Washington Co VA. In 1840 he moved to Claiborne Co TN to live with his son George. In 1843 father & son moved back to Morgan Co KY where Phillip said his children were living. In 1840 he stated he was a widower. Joseph Hanna & clergyman William Coffee made statements for him. One of the documents mentions "Hazlerigg, West Liberty". Thomas Hambleton of Morgan Co KY said he served with Phillip Williams & had been acquainted with him in Bedford Co VA.
