He enlisted in Culpeper Co VA in 1775. In 1820 he mentions his wife, age about 60, his two daughters Polly, age 20 Charlotte, age 18 and a son Morgan, age 11 He owned 45 acres of land in Lee Co. There is a line that reads: "Dead - rejecting ____ due ____ ___ to Hon JC Mitchell HR 27 March 1828" I can't make out three of the words. Also, there is a letter from L. Trewhitt of Cleveland TN dated 1844 saying William Dennis Hampton was long since dead, but that his heirs wanted to apply for the bounty land warrant that he never rec'd.
