    3. I found the book. Seems I spoke too soon. It has many other lists in it, but not the list you're seeking. The title for anyone trying to reference it is "The Tinkling Spring, Headwater of Freedom", A Story of the Church and Her People 1732-1952 by Howard McKnight Wilson, ThD and it was written in 1954. It is long out of print. It's a wonderful reference for anyone studying the early settlers of the early Orange and Augusta Co., Va. area. I tried to find it and couldn't. Author: wmwillis2 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.counties.r ussell/7419/mb.ashx Message Board Post: In 1773 the Ebbing Springs and Sinking Springs Congregations sent a call to the Rev. Charles Cummings. The roughly 120 signatories to the call represent a very early list of settlers in the Lower Holston area. This list is available in three places that I know of: a) Summers History of Southwest Virginia b) Summers Annals of Southwest Virginia c) a posting on the Teters Family GenForum Despite the fact that two of these sources are by the same author (Summers), each of these lists contains persons not found on the other version of the list---typically ten to 15 persons. None of these sources indicate exactly where they found their information. Its probably to be found in the records of the Hanover Presbytery, which is probably housed in the archives of the Presbyterian Historical Society. Does anyone know of additional sources for this list of signatories, or have an explanation for the differences between these lists?
