I felt she was probably deceased by now, as she was only a couple years older than my father. I wrote an uncle who was 10 years old at the time of Dollie's marriage to my grandfather. He remembered her well--she was kind to him and his brother, was pretty, and could cook--they had been without a mother for a while. He thought she was related to, or was a friend of the Seymour family who lived just north of the small town of Pollocksville in Jones Co., NC. My grandfather (age 72 at the time of their marriage) met Dollie through these Seymours who may have been related to our Hill family. (Being only 10 at the time, my uncle may not have been too clear on who was related to the Seymours, us or Dolly.) He remembers walking with Dollie to the house my family lived in, south of Trenton, NC so that she could catch the bus back to Coeburn, VA. He says she was homesick for Virginia. He also wondered what happened to her, and I will let him know of your reply t! o my post.
